Liberia, home to 5.3 million people, faces a significant health challenge as cancers are among the leading causes of death for women, with breast and cervical cancers accounting for over 40% of all women’s cancers and about two-thirds of cancer deaths. Breast cancer is the most common female cancer in Liberian women aged 15 to 44 years. With only one mammogram machine and no radiotherapy available, many women in Liberia experience severe outcomes due to the lack of essential prevention, screening, and treatment services. In response, Tigerlily Foundation has partnered with LIB Healthline, LLC to create and distribute localized educational materials to improve breast health awareness. Established in 2020, LIB Healthline provides healthcare administrative support and public health expertise, leveraging its connections with the Ministry of Health, University of Liberia College of Health Sciences, and various hospitals and clinics. Together, they will adapt toolkits, develop patient and provider panel sessions, launch a radio campaign, and create a customized version of the ANGEL training video to promote breast health education in Liberia.
